Questions.
The ones we are asked most, answered in full. Anything they do not cover goes to the address at the top of this page.
Will it scratch my windscreen?
No. The edge is a softer polymer than automotive glass, which is why it wears and the glass does not — that is the trade every scraper makes, and ours is the one where the wearing part unclips. Grit is what scratches glass, on any scraper. Brush the loose snow off first.
It looks like a ski. Is it actually a ski?
It is an ice scraper shaped like a ski, at roughly a fifth of the length. Do not attempt to descend anything on it.
How long is it?
320 mm end to end, 88 mm across the blade. Long enough to reach the middle of a windscreen from the driver's door, short enough to live in the door pocket rather than the boot.
What happens when the edge wears down?
You unclip it and clip on a new one. The handle is the part you paid for and the part that lasts; the edge is a consumable, priced like one. Replacement edges ship in packs of five, which is about ten winters.
Does it work on a frozen-solid windscreen, or only on snow?
Both. Snow comes off with the wide face. Hard ice wants the corner and short strokes — the same technique any scraper needs, done with a handle that will not snap while you are doing it.
Why does it cost more than the one at the petrol station?
Because you are buying it once. The petrol-station scraper is engineered to a price and lasts a season or two; this is a moulded tool with a replaceable edge and no planned exit. Over ten winters it is the cheaper object.
Do you actually hate ordinary ice scrapers?
We hate that they are designed to be replaced. Cheap is not the problem. Disposable is.
Where is it made?
Moulded in Europe, close enough to ship overland. The full supply chain goes on this site when the second production run lands and we can say something more useful than a country name.
I backed the Kickstarter. Do I need to order again?
No. Backer rewards ship on the campaign's own schedule and you do not need to do anything here. If a backer order has gone quiet, mail us and a human will find it.
